This is a pornographic scene from a magazine that I translated onto a 4'x4' piece of scrap paneling, and painted with elmers glue and glitter. Yes, the same method you use when you are in grade school making cards for mommy. Aside from the obvious irony of process/method vs. subject/content- there was a certain glamourous confrontation the work challenged the viewer with. I was in my own way, attempting to make this image something that people would look at, and maybe be able to challenge certain societal and psychological contradictions that we exist within. I could maybe even go so far as to say, that I was attempting to make this image something people might be able to stretch themselves into admitting could be beautiful in some way. Isn't it fair to assume, that an average viewer has most likely found themselves in a similar experience of that which I am depicting? Should it be a moral dilemma if you might even find that this picture is arousing? Instinct, curiousity, human nature, and pleasure- all seem to be direct contradictions to societal expectations- this piece was just an extension of some of those never ending debates that I personally will have no problem admitting to.
